Research-based
tutoring
For 20 years, we have developed a comprehensive approach to education based on foundations of psychological, behavioral, and neurological research.
Our methods have been time-tested and proven by our successes with hundreds of our students and families, and we constantly collaborate with contemporary educational and mental health experts to continually improve our methods.
Deep Learning
Many tutors will happily assist students by teaching patterns and tricks to help solve problems and finish their homework quickly.
But true mastery relies on deep foundations of knowledge that require patience, compassion, and attention to detail. Subtle gaps in students’ knowledge can hinder their progress and undermine their confidence. It is essential to ensure that students’ conceptual foundations are solid, so that they may build on their knowledge for years to come.
teaching whole persons
Students live rich lives full of their own challenges and complexities. In order to help them most effectively, we must teach the whole person, not just the part of them that wants to get better grades or score a 1600 on the SAT.
Students and adults are not so different—helping students learn healthy patterns of behavior and increased emotional regulation skills is critical for helping them achieve success, both inside and outside the classroom.
Beyond the classroom
Learning how to manage emotions and tackle hard life challenges are skills that benefit students far beyond the classroom. Improvements in college prospects, career development, home and family interactions, and social life are important aspects of our work as well.
Our students might walk through our doors because they want better math grades, or a perfect SAT score. But by the time they leave they will have acquired much more than that—a mature and positive approach to the hopeful life ahead of them.
